- An instrument consisting of a wide, conical brass bore coiled or a helicon-shape; equipped with a cup-shaped mouthpiece at one end, a wide, flared bell at the other end, as well as a set of valves, slides and water keys. Used to produce a sound via sympathetic vibration of the air in the mouthpiece.
