Definition
A jacket that is typically thigh length and is usually made of velvet or rich brocade. The edges of the lapels and the sleeves may often be decorated with braiding and decorative closures such as a belt or a rope. It commonly has a shawl collar and pockets. Worn by men and used as upper-body outer garment, typically worn after dinner.
