- A tool consisting of either a rounded or sharp, spear-like point or a bulbous, tapering iron head attached to a short wooden or metal handle sometimes equipped with a T- or D-shaped hand grip. Used for making holes in the ground to plant seeds or bulbs. Also used for transplanting.
