- Definition
- A shave plane of various designs, consisting of a sharpened rectangular steel blade with two tangs, one on either side, that are set into the sides of a two-handled wooden stock. The blade may be adjusted by wing nuts or simply by pushing the blade tangs further back into the stock. Used to thin, trim, round and smooth leather pieces (such as traces, back bands and other straps) after stitching.
