A piece of furniture of various sizes and styles in the form of a wooden or iron framework that is composed of a flat horizontal surface supported by four vertical legs. It may have side rails, and a footboard and headboard that may sometimes have posts attached to it. The flat surface is often a mattress or bedding held up by cross bars, straps or springs, but it may also be a solid plane. Used as a surface on which to sleep, recline, and rest.
