- Definition
- Objects originally created for the expression and communication of ideas, values, or attitudes through images, symbols, or abstractions. Art often reflects aesthetic pleasure or demonstrates creative skills and dexterity. Arts refers to both the performing and visual arts. Art can be uniquely created, or it can be produced in a medium that allows many duplicates to be made. Terms in this class include live or recorded performances such as ‘’Music’’ and ‘’Storytelling’’ or objects perceived through the sense of sight such as ‘’Needlework’’ and ‘’Sculpture’’. Terms from this class, whether a generic term such as "Visual Work" or more specific terms, may be used in addition to terms from other classes that index objects by other, practical functions (e.g., "Vase" and "Visual Work", "Pillow" and "Embroidery," "Mocock" and "Quillwork," "Moccasin" and "Beadwork").
