Definition
A stiff or soft hat, worn by women, made of felt, fabric or straw, generally decorated with flowers, ribbons or a veil, with the brim sometimes extending toward the front and the crown toward the back; the brim may also extends outward toward the face. It is tied under the chin. Used to protect the head from the elements, as a fashion accessory, and for propriety.
