Definition
An often round or rectangular large ceramic, metal or wood plate, measuring 25.4 - 33.02 centimeters (10-13 inches), sometimes equipped with handles. Placed under the dinner plate, used to decorate a formal dinner table while the food is consumed during the main course of the meal.
